It's a...

(BTW I am mad at all of you who gave away the big news in the comments!)

The baby's here! We got to the hospital at around 8:30 this morning. They started me on pitocin to help increase my contractions at around 9 (it was a very low dose- 2 drops an hour). A little after 11, my dr broke my water. Around 11:30, I got an epi. It took forever for the epi to fully take effect. When I did finally stop feeling the contractions, I started feeling a lot of pressure. Around 1:30 the nurse came to check on me. It was time to push! Grace Rose arrived at 2:08 p.m. She weighs 6 lbs, 12 oz, and is 19 inches long.
Since it took so long for the epi to take effect, I didn't feel anything during the delivery! This was by far my easiest delivery - almost makes me want to do it again someday. almost. (but, I'm not that crazy!)

I saw my one of my drs when I was being moved from labor and delivery to mother/baby. She stopped and talked to Cary and me. She told me that every week her and the other dr talked about how surprised they were that I was doing so great and wasn't having any complications. They are thrilled that I made it to 39 weeks.

Grace is beautiful! Can't wait to share pictures! (Cary has all the pictures on his cell phone and I just sent him out to get me food!)

Grace is named after Cary's grandmother (Grace was her middle name) and my grandmother (Rose is her middle name).

Congratulations. A girl!!! And sorry I too said something in the comments. It's your fault though that you have us all so darn addicted to this blog. I must have checked it, seriously, 20 times yesterday! I needed my blog fix and there weren't any updates. And silly Cary, when he actually spread the news to Mike, he didn't say a name!!! Impatient Alyson...you should have known I'd need a name. :-)

Well, Congrats again! Can't wait to meet her. Get pictures up soon.

Alyson - If took us a while to decide on the name. We made a deal a long time ago that he got to name the boys and I got to name the girls. We had is narrowed down to 4 girls names, we just had to decide on the combination.

Anotheramy - Cary's going to call the restaurant. The deal says that your supposed to go into labor within 48 hours. I went into labor within 24 hours (actually, I think my labor had already started when we ate there). But I didn't deliver within 48 hours. I want my gift card! That eggplant was so good.

Alyson and Hedda - Cary told me that I can't be mad at you. So you are forgiven. ;)

How exciting!!! A baby girl!! I have to admit that I am a little jealous that you got a baby girl, but I am so ecstatic for you. I know that you have been uncomfortable the last few weeks, but I know that it was all worth it when you got to see her beautiful little face. You almost make me want to have another one. Almost....unless I when the lottery, it won't be happening. I can't wait to meet her. I had a stomach bug earlier this week, so I don't want to take any chances. I'll have to come visit when you get home.

CONGRATS!!!!!

Thank you for the forgiveness!!!

Reason I was surprised Cary didn't give a name is that on your previous post you said you already had the girls name picked. Guess labor will make you crazy! So, was Grace Rose the name you were thinking of the past day or two when you said you had it picked or did petocin have you changing your mind all day? :-)

Can't wait to meet her.

Alyson - I thought we did have a name. Then when we got to the hospital, we started talking other combinations of the 4 girl names we had narrowed down. Grace Rose was my favorite of the combinations. And since she's a girl, I got to make the final decision. (The other 2 names were Molly and Anna.)

Grace Rose is a beautiful name - congratulations!
And remember your post from way back in late January of 2007? I think that was the one, where you said the next one (this baby) had to be a girl?
Yes, that's what happens when I read your entire blog in one day.

Congrats! I am so happy that SHE is here! Just one more thing we have in common!

So happy she was full-term and that you didn't need a c-section!

Please post some pictures when you get a chance!
